Advanced Installer is becoming a popular program for creating installation packages. During the last few years, its developers have been constantly working to provide a professional solution for creating EXE and MSI setup files. In my opinion, they are doing a great job.
After reinstalling the program, I noticed that its graphical user-interface hasn't changed much, yet version 9.6 of the program comes with a lot of enhancements and bug fixes. Advanced Installer uses the same rules as Windows Installer, the default software installation technology used on Windows. The program is now able to run on Windows 8 and comes with various improvements. One interesting aspect is that Advanced Installer is able to create web installers that will also display a "downloading progress". In addition to this, explicit options for file overwriting have been implemented.
Advanced Installer comes in 4 editions: Architect, Enterprise, For Java, and Professional. Each of them has its own set of features and that reflects in their prices. I'm very confident that it is just a matter of time until this efficient program will be widely used by programmers and engineers.
